NOTICE OF PUBLIC ADVERTISEMENT
RENEWABLE ENERGY FACILITY (WIND FARM)- LOTS 231, 640, 620 & 622 IN
SOUTHERN CROSS
A new application for the wind farm has been lodged to the Shire of Yilgarn. The application
is identical to the previous proposal advertised in 2023, however this time the application will
be determined by the Shire and not a Development Assessment Panel.
The application proposes a renewable energy facility (wind farm) on various lots located
approximately 12 kilometres to the south east of the Southern Cross townsite.
Ten wind turbines are proposed on Lot 620, Lot 622 (No 282) Glendower Road, Lot 231 and
640. The lots are located between Great Eastern Highway to the north, Emu Fence Road to
the east, and Southern Cross Marvel Loch Road to the west.
The application proposes up to 10 wind turbines, up to 10 MWh of battery storage, and
associated infrastructure including transformers, above and below ground cabling, roads,
crane hardstands, switch rooms and communication equipment.
The combined blade length and tower height of turbines will have a maximum height of 240m
Above Ground Level (AGL).
